Change in the Certification Process Starting in 2009

The term "Board Eligible" will be discontinued for candidates passing the Written Examination in 2009. Candidates completing the Written Examination in the years 2006, 2007, and 2008 will be considered Board Eligible under the specifications of the current policy. More About the Change in the Certification Process

Change in Recertification Requirements

Beginning in 2008, new Diplomates will be required to meet recertification requirements every six (6) years by attaining 60 points of continuing education credit and completing the online Self-Study Recertification (SSR) program. Diplomates who have a recertification date of 2006 or 2007 must fulfill the current requirement and then meet the new requirement in three years, after which they will begin the six-year cycle. Diplomates on the current three-year cycle who must recertify prior to 2011 will be required to attain 30 points of continuing education credit and complete the online Self-Study Recertification (SSR) program, after which they will begin the six-year cycle. A new Self Study Recertification (SSR) Program will be available in the fall of 2007. The feedback on the current SSR has been very favorable and the new SSR promises to be even better.
