CHICAGO–September 14, 2009—Don Clem, DDS, of Fullerton, California, was installed as President Elect of the American Academy of
An AAP member since 1982, Dr. Clem previously served on the Board of Trustees as Vice President in 2009 and Secretary/Treasurer during 2008. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Past President of the California Society of Periodontists. In addition to the Board of Trustees, Dr. Clem has served on the Academy’s Planning Committee, Education Committee, and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Periodontology. He has also acted as President of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation, Chairman for the Task Force on Periodontal Disease Management Guidelines, as well as several other AAP appointments. Dr. Clem is also a Cobalt Level Donor to the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation.

Dr. Clem received his dental degree from Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago, Illinois in 1980, and his specialty training in periodontics from the University of Texas Health Science
