CHICAGO–September 8, 2008—Samuel Low, DDS, MS, of Gainesville, Florida was installed as President Elect of the American Academy of
Dr. Low is Associate Dean and professor of periodontology at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainesville, Fla. He is also an advisory faculty member to the Pankey Institute.
An AAP member since 1975,
“Dr. Low’s contributions to both the Academy as well as the specialty of periodontology make him an excellent selection for the role of President Elect of the Academy. I am confident that he will use his expertise and experience, along with his new position, to continue to guide the Academy toward the future of periodontology,” said

Now is an important and innovative time in the field of periodontics,” said Low. “We will continue to focus on educating the public, as well as the dental and health care communities, about the important role that the treatment of periodontal disease can play in maintaining one’s natural teeth for a lifetime.”

Dr. Low received his dental degree, specialty training in periodontics, and Masters of Science in biomedical science from University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston, and his Masters of Education from University of Florida College of Education.
