What is awarded?

Created to encourage periodontal students to enter teaching, two $15,000 fellowships are awarded annually. The award is not to be used to replace support that would have normally been provided by the recipient's institution. The award should be considered a supplement to any salary, stipend or research support.

Who is eligible?

Periodontal postgraduate students in their third year of a non-military accredited periodontal post-doctoral training program in the United States, and who intend to pursue a career in periodontal teaching and research in the United States.

What are the qualifications?

A strong interest in periodontal education is the primary qualification. In addition, the selected candidates must demonstrate excellent character, integrity, a record of academic and personal achievements, and an aptitude for teaching and research.

What is the selection process?

The selection committee is made up of three periodontists who have an interest in periodontal education. Members of the committee are appointed by the Foundation president. The fellowship recipients are announced by June 1.
