Making a gift to the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation is an easy way to support the future of your specialty. All donations to the AAP Foundation are tax-deductible in accordance with the law.

The Bowers Endowment Fund for the ABP

Interest from this fund will be used to ensure that the American Board of Periodontology can meet unanticipated challenges of the future and remain financially stable. Your five-year pledge to the Bowers Fund will ensure that the American Board of Periodontology can take advantage of appropriate new technologies supporting rigorous testing standards, remain financially stable and, ultimately, advance the profession of periodontology. Chasens Fellowship Fund

A fellowship created to encourage periodontal students to enter teaching, the Abram and Sylvia Chasens Teaching and Research Fellowship will provide $30,000 per year to fund two fellowships awarded to students who have a stated career goal of periodontal education and who are in their third year of an accredited periodontal residence program in the U.S. Chasens Fellowship Donors

The D. Walter Cohen Teaching Award Fund

The Dr. D. Walter Cohen Teaching Award, once fully funded, will support young periodontal faculty. Cohen Teaching Award Donors

Education Funds

To meet the ongoing need for full-time periodontal faculty and fill current and future faculty vacancies with the most committed and talented educators, the AAP Foundation administers the Education Action Fund. Education Action Fund Donors

Grateful Colleague Program

The next time you provide care as a professional courtesy and your colleague asks how to thank you, suggest a gift to the AAP Foundation using the colleague's portion of the Grateful Colleague formCan't open this? Download Acrobat Reader. This may also be done in your honor by friends or regular patients who believe in the value of periodontal education. Donations go to Foundation programs that support the development of outstanding periodontal educators.

The Nevins Teaching and Clinical Research Fellowship Fund

Named in honor of Myron Nevins, DDS, this fund supports a fellowship for top periodontal educators and researchers early in their careers. Nevins Fellowship Fund Fund Donors

New Century Club

The New Century Club is a special donor category reserved exclusively for AAP Student Members who donate to the AAP Foundation. The program is structured to make it easier for Student Members to become donors by offering two levels of New Century Club membership. New Century Club Members

Planned Giving Central

Among this area's extensive resources are profiles of colleagues who have chosen to create a legacy, updates on legislation which may impact your estate plan, articles detailing financial planning vehicles and techniques, a gift calculator to help you compute possible tax advantages using different scenarios, and much more! Sustaining Fund

Each year when you renew your membership dues to the American Academy of Periodontology, you are given the option of making a $200 payment to the Sustaining Fund. Or you may use our online giving form to donate whenever you wish. The Sustaining Fund helps to support the fund-raising and grant-making activities of the Foundation. Sustaining Fund Donors

Visionary Society

The Visionary Society was created by the AAP Foundation to recognize individuals who commit to making planned and estate gifts to the Foundation in any amount. Visionary Society Members

Kramer Scholar Award Fund

Make a gift to support the Foundation's first named-scholarship opportunity – the Dr. and Mrs. Gerald M. Kramer Scholar Award for Excellence. Kramer Award donors may make a one-time gift or pledge over 3 to 5 years. Kramer Scholar Award Fund Donors

Tarrson Fellowship Fund

Another way to support professional education is by giving to the Bud & Linda Tarrson Fellowship that was established by a major gift made by the Tarrsons. The gifts of Tarrson Fellowship donors are used to support the work of faculty members in accredited periodontal programs. Tarrson Fellowship Fund Donors

Memorial Gifts

Consider giving a gift in memory of a deceased loved one or friend, or in honor of a special occasion such as the birth of a baby or a wedding. The AAP Foundation receives memorial gifts throughout the year.
