CHICAGO, January 9, 2006 – The American Dental Association Foundation (ADAF) awarded the Academy of Periodontology Foundation a $21,500 grant for 2006.

The grant was made under the auspices of an ADAF program intended to stimulate innovation in dental education. The AAP Foundation submitted a grant proposal that highlighted the new AAP Educator Scholarships and AAP Teaching Fellowships and how these awards would aid in faculty recruitment and retention and address the issue of high student indebtedness. The ADAF received 50 applications for the award and made seven equal-sized grants. The AAP Foundation will direct the award toward education efforts.
