AAP Foundation Elects Paul A. Levi, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer

CHICAGO, November 29, 2003 – The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation board of directors elected Paul A. Levi, Jr., D.M.D., to a one-year term as secretary-treasurer at its annual meeting in San Francisco in September. Dr. Levi had served on the Foundation's board of directors since 2001. Levi maintains a private practice in Burlington, Vermont, and is currently teaching at Tufts University school of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He previously taught for nine years at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston. He also holds academic appointments in the Department of Surgery, Medical Center of Vermont, and the University of Vermont, School of Allied Health Sciences.

In 2001, Levi was presented with the Clinical Faculty Teaching Award by the Class of 2002, Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Through his work at Harvard he has been invited to present courses in Germany and at three universities in Thailand, where he recently worked with the faculty of Prince of Songkla University in a free dental clinic at the Thailand Naval Base in Songkla, Thailand. He again this year will be giving courses in Kohn Kaen, Thailand and lecturing at Tokyo Dental College, Tokyo, Japan.

Levi served on numerous committees for the American Academy of Periodontology and in 1998 served on the advisory board of the AAP Foundation. He is also active in the American Dental Association, Vermont State Dental Society, Vermont Periodontal Association, Massachusetts Periodontal Society, and Champlain Valley Dental Society.
