CHICAGO, April 4, 2005 – July 15 is the application deadline for the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation Tarrson Regeneration Scholarships. The awards, each in the amount of $37,000 for each year of the recipients’ three-year periodontal training program, are intended to promote periodontal research in tissue regeneration and also to address the critical shortage of periodontal educators. Applicants must submit a proposal abstract for a clinical research project with importance relevant to clinical or translational regeneration studies as part of the application process. Recipients of the Scholarship also must commit to spending one year of full-time teaching in a US periodontal training program for each year he/she received the Scholarship funds. The award is funded by the Bud Tarrson Foundation for Dental Research.
Applicants for the Scholarship must be students who have been accepted into accredited periodontal postdoctoral trainings at U.S. institutions, or they must be first-year residents within their first six months of an accredited U.S. program. The completed application packet must include:
