Online Journal of Periodontology Registration and Activation Procedures for Individual Subscribers

To access full text articles on the site, AAP members and subscribers must register then activate their online subscriptions.

All AAP members and subscribers must register the first time they want to access full-text articles at the online Journal of Periodontology Web site.

NOTE TO AOL USERS: The JOP site does NOT support older versions of the AOL browser. If you have trouble registering, you may want to download the latest version of the AOL browser or switch to the Internet Explorer browser.

Please note that there are two steps in the process of setting up your Online JOP account:

Please follow these steps to REGISTER and ACTIVATE your account:

  1. Visit the home page at www.joponline.org. You can also access the Journal  home page through the Academy's Web site. In the large box that says “Paid Subscribers/AAP Members Only”, select the “individual subscribers” link.

  2. On the next page, click the orange “Register Now” button and complete the registration form with the information below. Details such as first and last name and e-mail address are required to authenticate your identity against our database.

    • Username and Password. Create a username and password (avoid using special characters such as , . ! #). If you are a member of the AAP, you might want to enter the same user ID (AAP membership number) and password you use for the Members area of the AAP Web site. This way, you will not have to remember two different sets of usernames and passwords.

    • About You. Please complete the information requested in the required fields (*). Primary areas of interest (Health Sciences/Dentistry, etc.), profession, and work environment must be selected. This is for Academy purposes only.

    • Address Details. Please complete the information requested in the required fields (*). You will need to enter your e-mail address twice.

    • Privacy Policy and Your Information. Check the box if you would like to receive mailings (print or e-mail) related to the Journal  from the Academy. Please note this is for Academy use only; we do not share this information with any third parties.

    • Finally, enter the word you see in the box at the left of your screen. Click “Submit”. You will now be brought to the “Access Tokens” page.

  3. As the final step to accessing full-text Journal articles, you must now ACTIVATE your online subscription by entering your AAP membership number/subscriber number on this page. Click “Submit”.

Registration and Activation Completed. After your user account has been registered and activated, you can begin accessing full-text Journal of Periodontology  articles.

Within a few minutes of completing your registration and activation, you should receive a confirmation e-mail titled “AAP Registration Confirmation”. Please save this e-mail for your records as it contains your username and password for the Journal  site.

In addition, please note that in the upper right-hand corner of the screen (in the dark blue area), you should now see your name (e.g., “Welcome Dr. J. Smith”).

Future Logins. For future logins, click the “Sign in” link in the dark blue area in the upper right-hand corner of the home page (www.joponline.org), then enter your username and password in the area that says “Sign in (registered users)”.
